This interactive map summarises information on the distributions of varieties of lantana and selected lantana biological control agents, for seven broad regions of eastern Australia. It aims to provide region-specific information on lantana variation and biological control agent availability to practitioners and land managers. See our project page for background information on this project.

Some biological control agents will only attack certain varieties of lantana. Selected agents’ preferred hosts are identified below.

Agent (species)Host (variety)
Uroplata girardiall varieties
Octotoma scabripennisall varieties
Teleonemia scrupulosaCommon Pink-Edged Red and other varieties (excluding Common Pink)
Aconophora compressaall varieties
Prospodium tuberculatumCommon Pink
Aceria lantanaeCommon Pink-Edged Red and other varieties (excluding Common Pink)
Ophiomyia lantanaeall varieties

About this map: see our project page for background information on this project. Current distributions of lantana varieties were reported based on the findings of Lu-Irving et al. (in preparation). Current biological control agent distributions were reported based on occurrence data from Day et al. 2003, the Atlas of Living Australia, and Callander et al. (in preparation). Predicted biological control agent distributions were modeled using these occurrence data.
